Celebrating Our HAITI Program

So, if you have been attending Mosaic Youth over the past few months you should be aware of our Haiti Child Survival Program through Compassion International (if you feel out of the loop, I am posting our details below).  We have partnered with Compassion for two months now and the challenge that we have placed on you is to sacrifice one drink a week to help us support this program in Haiti.  Our pledge is to give $20 a month.

GUESS WHAT?!?!  We have collected $66.04 over the past two months.  DANG GUYS!  Great job.  You have really blown me out of the water on coming through on this challenge.  We will continue to challenge you through the summer with this.  Huge props to you guys.

Child Survival Program

Tragically, 24,000 children under age 5 die every day, mostly from preventable diseases. The five major killers are malaria, diarrhea, measles, HIV/AIDS, and malnutrition.

Being a mother takes courage. Being an expectant mother in desperate poverty takes courage and so much more.  For many mothers living in poverty, pregnancy is a matter of life and death. In Haiti, the infant mortality rate is as high as 59%…pre-earthquake.  Most birth happen in their home with no medical support…now, they are happening in tent cities.  Compassion’s Child Survival Program connects courageous mothers in need with help from local churches so they can give birth safely and raise healthy children.  Haiti is a country that Mosaic Church supports.  Our teens may never be able to go on a trip to Haiti but that doesn’t mean we cant be involved in what God is doing over there.  How can our teenagers be involved?  Mosaic Youth has made a monthly commitment of $20 to support Compassion International’s Child Survival Program in Haiti.

We want to encourage our teenagers to sacrifice one Coke, one Monster, or one coffee a week and donate the money you would have spent then to this program.  Will you join us in making a difference in the world…one life at a time, for the sake of the power message of Jesus?
